How to Install a Kodi Addon

After you’ve selected an add-on from the list above, the next step is installing within the Kodi application. Follow our step-by-step tutorial below, and this process is similar across all add-ons.

1. First install the Kodi application on your device. Then launch Kodi and click the Settings icon.

2. Then click System.

3. Click the toggle to enable Unknown sources. 

4. Click Yes.

5. Return to the System menu and select File manager.

6. Click Add source.

7. Click <None> to change the file source.

8. Enter the Repository URL for your add-on and click OK. In this example we are installing The Crew (https://team-crew.github.io)

9. Then enter a name for the media source and click OK.

10. Click the back button on your remote to return to the System menu. Then select Add-ons.

11. Click Install from zip file.

12. Select the name of your media source that you provided in the previous step.

13. Click the zip file URL.

14. Wait a few seconds and wait for the “Add-on installed” message to appear.

15. Now click Install from repository.

16. Choose your preferred repository. We are using The Crew Repo in this instance.

17. Click Video add-ons.

18. Then locate and select the add-on you want to install. We are installing The Crew in this instance.

19. Click Install.

20. You will likely see a message that reads ‘The following additional add-ons will be installed.” Click OK.

21. Wait for your add-on to install.

22. After a minute or two you should see an “Add-on installed” message on the top right of your screen.

How to Use Addons

Once you’ve installed a Kodi add-on for the first time, it may not be clear exactly how to use these platforms to watch shows, films, and more. Use our guide below.

1. After installing one of the options listed above, open your addon and you will encounter the home interface. This typically has various categories to choose from as shown below.

2. You can also use the Search icon to browse for your preferred media.

3. Most main categories also have various subcategories that help narrow down your search options.

4. You can then choose the media you want to play.

5. After making a selection, you are then given various link options to choose from. Make sure to choose one that suits your download speeds. (If you select a file too large, you will likely encounter buffering.)

6. Playback will now begin.

Integrating Debrid Services

After installing an add-on on your device, most Kodi users will integrate premium debrid services for higher-quality links and less buffering. Popular debrid services include Real-Debrid, Premiumize, and AllDebrid.

In this example, we are adding Premiumize within The Crew add-on, but this process is similar for most add-ons.

1. Launch The Crew and choose Tools.

 2. Select ResolveURL: Settings

3. Hover over Universal Resolvers 2 and select (Re)Authorise My Account under Premiumize.

4. An authorization code will appear. Write this down for the next step.

5. Visit premiumize.me/device and enter the code from the previous step.

6. Click Allow.

7. You should then see a message that says ‘device authorize accepted!’

8. Return back to your add-on and you should notice a message that says ‘Premium Resolver Authorized.”

How to Update Addons in Kodi

Many of the options listed above frequently receive updates, which keep them running at optimum performance. While they are often updated automatically, you may occasionally need to update them manually.

Follow the steps below to ensure your addons update properly so you always have the latest version.

1. From the home screen of Kodi, scroll to and select Add-Ons.

2. Find the add-on you wish to update and hover over it.

3. Long-press on your remote or keyboard and select Information.

4. Make sure “Auto-Update” is enabled.

Alternatively, you can use the following method to disable auto-updates but enable notifications when an update is available.
