BuzzTV G-Series Android TV Box Review – Yeah IPTV
The BuzzTV G-Series is engineered for high-end streaming performance, serving as BuzzTV’s first official certified Android TV/Google TV device. Its flagship feature is the AI-SR 2 (Artificial Intelligence Super Resolution), which uses dedicated hardware processing to upscale 720p and 1080p content to near-4K in real-time without bogging down system RAM.
Other promoted features include lightning-fast navigation via the brand-new Amlogic S905X5M chipset, future-proof connectivity with Wi-Fi 6 & Gigabit Ethernet, and the inclusion of their G21 voice remote, which prominently features a full numerical keypad with custom buttons as well.

Certified Android TV with Google TV Interface
It runs on Android TV 14 utilizing the official Google TV interface. Unlike older BuzzTV devices that historically relied on heavily modified AOSP (Android Open Source Project) builds to run mobile apps on a TV, the G Series is a fully certified Google TV device.

Netflix Certification & Other Premium Streaming Apps
Because it is fully Google certified, it is also completely Netflix Certified. It natively supports 4K HDR playback on Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu, and Max right out of the box. There are no workarounds, sideloaded mobile versions, or resolution caps required for these premium services.

Side-loading APKs on BuzzTV G-Series
Yes, side-loading works perfectly. Because it runs Android 14 for TV, the process simply requires enabling Unknown apps for the application that you want to side-load with. Once enabled, you can easily load custom streaming APKs, third-party media players, or IPTV clients.
3rd Party Launchers
Yes, I tested the Projectivy launcher on the BuzzTV G-Series Set Top Box and it works as it should.
BuzzTV G-Series AI-SR 2 (Artificial Intelligence Super Resolution)
The AI up-scaling is a new feature that boosts 720p and 1080p to almost 4K resolution. It does this automatically in the background without the need to enable any settings.
I wish BuzzTV would provide the option to fine-tune the AI settings like other manufacturers such as Ugoos. Yes, we can adjust settings in Projectivy under Amlogic Settings but does it really work? I didn’t see any difference when using the demo mode with AI set to high in Projecivy so that leads me to believe that this may be disabled since upscaling happens automatically.
In my testing, I was impressed with the picture quality for the streams that I played!
Download & Upload Speeds
The following download/upload tests were done with the BuzzTV G-Series Android TV Box being connected to my ASUS RT-AX86U WiFi 6 Router. I’m using Surfshark for the VPN tests. I’m measuring speeds with the Analiti application.
WiFi Download/Upload Speeds

Download VPN Off: 391 Mbps
Upload VPN Off: 278 Mbps
Download VPN On: 151 Mbps
Upload VPN On: 110 Mbps
Gigabit Download/Upload Speeds

Download VPN Off: 724 Mbps
Upload VPN Off: 279 Mbps
Download VPN On: 225 Mbps
Upload VPN On: 158 Mbps
Download/upload speeds are excellent as you can see from the testing above. Remember, you only need 15-25 Mbps to stream 4K content and anything more is overkill

BuzzTV G-Series Specs

- SoC (System on Chip): Amlogic S905X5M
- RAM: 4GB LPDDR4
- Storage: 64GB eMMC
- Networking: Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax 2.4/5GHz), Gigabit Ethernet (1000M)
- Bluetooth: 5.2
- Ports: USB-C (Power 5V), USB-C (Data), USB 2.0, HDMI, Gigabit LAN, Optical Audio, Micro SD Card Slot
Note: I used AI to help with the following Video/Audio information as it’s impossible for me to test every “real-world” possibility.
Supported Video:
It handles 4K @ 60fps, AV1, HEVC (H.265), VP9, and H.264. It supports HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision (Profile 7 MEL and Hybrid play fine).
Supported Audio:
Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Atmos, and standard lossy DTS.
What Isn’t Supported (The Quirks):
System-Wide Lossless Audio Passthrough: Like many OEM clones using this chipset, the device struggles with global lossless passthrough (TrueHD / DTS-HD MA). Standard players like Plex or ExoPlayer will force these into PCM or a lossy core. However, if your audience uses Kodi, TrueHD and DTS-HD MA are successfully passed through via software decoders.
Dolby Vision Profile 7 FEL: Full Enhancement Layer (FEL) Dolby Vision is not processed natively and will fall back to standard HDR10.
Framerate Matching Bugs: Some early firmware iterations report that Quick Media Switching occasionally doubles 23.976Hz and 24Hz video up to 48Hz instead of properly matching the native frame rate perfectly.

BuzzTV G-Series Pros & Cons
Pros:
- Finally brings BuzzTV into the fully certified Google TV ecosystem.
- Massive 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage make UI navigation incredibly snappy.
- Hardware-level AI upscaling noticeably improves older 720p/1080p streams without taxing the CPU.
- Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6 ensure zero bottlenecking for high-bitrate streaming. Download/upload speed tests above are excellent.
- Nice remote with a full number pad, perfect for traditional live TV/IPTV navigation.
- BuzzTV has always done a nice job of providing updates.
Cons:
- Priced at a premium ($149.99).
- Can’t manipulate AI upscaling settings (might not be possible on Android TV certified devices)
- No option to enable Gemini AI
- System-wide lossless audio passthrough (TrueHD/DTS-HD MA) is buggy outside of specific applications like Kodi.
Final Thoughts
The BuzzTV G-Series Android TV Box is an excellent streaming device that offers power and large storage that will help future-proof it for years to come.
One of their most prominent advertised features is the AI upscaling and I hope they release an update that allows us to manipulate settings for that feature. Due to the fact that they are using certified Android TV on this system, they might not be able to do that.
Another feature that I would like to see is the inclusion of Gemini AI. I’ve found myself using this more and more as the microphone allows for quick access to information directly on the TV.
We always come back to the question of whether it’s worth paying the extra money in comparison to the Onn 4K Pro. I think that boils down to user preference and whether you need the additional storage and Gigabit LAN. Also, Onn streaming devices aren’t available worldwide whereas BuzzTV ships to most areas of the world.
All-in-all, I’m impressed with this new certified Android TV/Google TV system from BuzzTV.
